How To Make a C and C Cage
So, you want to build a C and C Cage, huh?
Tired of that smallish cage for your Guinea Pig that just isn't cutting it anymore and never really did cut it that well to begin with?
I feel for you. I too was at this junction. I looked online and searched and finally found a solution for a happier Guinea Pig and a healthier Guinea Pig. A C and C Cage!
Now some of you may wonder what exactly does the C and C stand for?
The first C stands for Cubes. Cubes, as in grids that can be put together to make storage cubes. You can find these cubes online and in some stores. I'll put a link to where to buy some at the end of this tutorial.
The second C stands for Correx, or corrugated plastic. This is what we make the bottom and sides out of, you can see it in the pictures above, it is the black box.
So Cubes and Correx or sometimes called Coroplast. That a C and C Cage. It might sound daunting and it's not a piece of cake..but it isn't impossible either and well worth the effort for your little Piggies!

Supply List
So here we will go over the supplies you will need to build a C and C Cage. You can find them all available for purchase on the links below from Amazon. I do get a small commission from this. If you can find some of the things or all of the things you need at local stores that is great! I had trouble finding things when I built mine, so I would have liked to have had a list like this.
1. Corrugated Plastic Board
First you're going to need a sheet of corrugated plastic, sometimes called Coroplast or Correx. At the link below you can find a range of colors to choose from. You can also sometimes find these sheets available for purchase at local sign shops.
2. Cube Grids
Second you will need some cube grids. What are cube grids? Have you ever put together the organizational shelving that is made from wire grids you can form into cubes? That is what these are basically. See below for the picture.

3. Tape
You will need tape for the securing of your corrugated plastic box sides. I used Gorilla Tape and the patterned duct tape, a zebra pattern like in the photo below. Both types of tapes work well. Don't use scotch tape or a thin tape as that will not hold.

4. Cable Ties
You will use these cable ties to secure the cube grid frame you will make. The cable ties make it extra safe for your Guinea Pig(s). You will use a lot so get the 100 pack, or maybe two 100 packs in case you mess up. I did. LOL

5. Utility Knife
You will need a utility knife to score your lines on the corrugated plastic to make the sheet be able to fold into a box shape. You may have one already, but if you don't, here is one.

6. Scissors
I would imagine you have scissors, but if you want a new pair for this project and you want to order everything at once, here is a pair or you could look for something that you maybe had in mind. A good hardy pair is needed because cutting through the corrugated plastic can be a bit tough sometimes as it is thick.

7. Measuring Tape
You will need a measuring tape to help you with measuring your board and marking it. I used a clothes tape measurer and it was flexible and worked find. Here are some nice options.

8. Ruler
You will need a ruler too, to help you measure and draw a straight line. You probably have one of these, but just in case you don't here is one below.

9. Marker
You'll need a good marker to mark your lines on your board. I used a silver Sharpie on black board, so you could see it well. depending on what color board you get, black should work well, it might even work well on the black board, it might reflect.
