I'm Blathers the Binturong. A Binturong is a large animal that lives in the trees! They call this arboreal. How do we do this, wouldn't we fall when we sleep? Well we have prehensile tails. A prehensile tail is like another limb, it wraps around things to help us stay steady when we are moving or still, like asleep in a tree top.
We are distantly related to Cats and are in the family Viverridae, which also includes the Genet.
We are usually shy animals, but if threatened we can be aggressive.
We are omnivores, meaning we eat plant and animal matter, in the form of small reptiles, and other small animals, fruit and vegetables. We hunt at night and are said to be sort of crepuscular, which means we are active around dusk and dawn. Some of our favorite foods are Saffrons and Grapes, which we are fed at zoos.
Yum, is that popcorn? You might say that around us! We have glands on our bottoms that produce a musk that smells like buttered popcorn!
Females are usually larger than males like me. When they have babies they usually have 1-2, but can have more. They are pregnant for around 3 months and their babies come out at a light weight 5 ounces!
