My name is Duke, The Ankole Watusi. I am a breed of Cattle that originates in Africa. I and the rest of my breed have the ability to grow really long and thick horns. Our horns can get to be 6 feet long. Our horns sometimes grow in a lyre shape, which is twisty and sometimes they grow in a round shape.
We are also known to have a hump area near our shoulders.
Another "cool" fact about us and our horns, is that our horns act as a natural air conditioner! The blood that runs through my horns is cooled and then travels back through my body at a lower temperature, keeping me cooler, and helping me hold up under hot conditions.
Cows are known for being in herds, and we, the Ankole Watusi are no exception. We are sociable together and at night we sleep in a circle with our heads and horns facing out. In the middle of that circle are our calves, who are kept safe in the middle.
