Hi, I am Annie, and I am a Bongo Antelope. My species is a large Antelope, and we are some of the largest Antelopes that live in the forests.
We come from the forested areas of Africa. We like to eat plants and eat a lot of green vegetation that is low to the ground in the jungle and forest areas. We like fruit too and love salt!
As you can see I am a beautiful chestnut color with bright, vivid white stripes. My horns, which are not that big here grow into a lyre shape. Both male and female Bongos have horns. They can grow to be pretty big, up towards four feet. The longer horns are seen in male Bongos.
We are not found in herds often. Sometimes females and young will group together, but most males like to be alone or solitary. Females are pregnant a little longer than Humans are and we typically have one baby per pregnancy. We nurse our babies for about half a year.
We can scare pretty easily and are a timid Antelope. When we're scared we run away very fast.
